Who’s ready for some more fantasy writing prompts?
One of my first ever writing prompts post was fantasy : 36 Magical Fantasy Story Writing Prompts. And many people loved it, as I did too! Since fantasy is such a great and broad genre, there is no way that my brain ran out at only 36 prompts XD
Back by popular demand, read on for 65 amazing fantasy writing prompts for you to take inspiration from and write some magical stories!
Writing prompts are meant to help inspire your own writing and for you to go on and elaborate on further more than the writing prompts given and into a story of your own. The details are for you to wove in and the ending is for you to decide.

Let’s Start with these fantasy writing prompts :
1. The grim reaper pulls off the head of the black cloak and shook her wavy red hair before smiling, “Why, hello there.”
2. “Don’t tell me you believe in vampires.” “You are werewolf.”
3. She was an experienced captain that has been out on the sea for years but little did she know, a male siren has been looking out for her. Or maybe he’s just keeping her for his own.
4. Her tinder profile lists age 24, brown hair, hazel eyes, and werewolf.
5. “Come out already!” You tossed your hands up after being lost in the woods and away from your friends for hours. You stared as trees started morphing into people right before you.
6. She’s just discovered the tarot card reader she’s been visiting ever since she’s moved here was actually a warlock and a criminal in hiding.
7. His wish was answered with a small kiss from the fairy queen herself.
8. “Can you borrow me that screwdriver over there?” You stare in horror as he lifted his shirt, showing his half metal chest.
9. “Thumbelina?” She scoffed. “I don’t even know why she had a story written about her, I’m a much prettier fairy than she is. And mind you, I’m normal sized.”
10. He couldn’t tell where the voice was coming from until he reached the end of the cave, where a gnome just tall enough to reach his knees frowned, “You need to leave. Now.”
11. “Am I the warlock, or are you? Yes honey, now shut up and let me do my thing while you do your…mundane thing.”
12. The Angel arrives with a mop of blond hair and a white cloak while the Devil arrives with cropped ginger hair and a black body suit.
13. “It’s too hard for a vampire and werewolf to kiss. I’m not trying to get my beautiful luscious lips torn thank you very much.”
14. She was all alone in a ball before a pair of hands and black eyes swept her to the middle of the dance floor. “May I have this dance, Princess?”
15. They met at a random bar, not knowing that they were both leaders of the two groups that were having war and there was a $100,000 bounty on each of their heads.
16. “I’d choose a cup of blood anytime over some cheap red wine.” She licked her lips and winked. “I recommend you give it a try, or not.”
17. You thought you were in a normal summer camp until you heard wolf howls at the night of a full moon not the campsite. Except the howls was coming from right next to you and the other tents outside.
18. He pushed you against wall of the dark alley and hissed, “Why the hell are you walking in these kinds of dark allies? It doesn’t matter if you have a vampire as your bodyguard!”

20. The second you stepped out from the black building after ten years, you knew something was wrong. Something about yourself was wrong.
21. The three of you as a vampire, a warlock, and a elf have one mission : find out who f*cked up the assassination.
22. “Sirens? Or mermaids?” He raised an eyebrow. “I’m sorry to break your childhood dream, but they’re both hideous as hell.”
23. She plucked off a feather from her black wings and left it on your desk before leaving. All without realizing that you were awake the whole time.
24. He’s been guarding this hidden island for centuries before a pirate ship sent a wooden boat to his beach with a woman inside. She quivered, “I’m…the tribute for our safety, sir.”
25. “The monster under your bed when you were small?” Your guardian angel repeated with wide eyes. “I don’t think I’m ugly enough to be called a monster but…was I that obvious?”
26. One controls fire and one controls water, they’re twins.
27. “I don’t think you want to know why and how zombies came to be in you human’s cartoon.” He shrugged. “But you should know that I was at the top of the makeup game even when I was only a couple centuries old during Halloween.”
28. A political marriage ensued between the elf prince and the fairy princess, except they had formed an alliance to break this marriage that they both didn’t want.
29. She watched as the metal drilled into her numbed skin. She would be the first and the last person to be used for this experiment.
30. “Who the hell rides brooms nowadays?” She scoffed while stroking her black cat. “We all ride one of those…what was it again? Mercedes! We drive those now.”
31. He sat on his chair before morphing back to his original state and holding up the paper with a wide grin. “I got it.”
32. You just found out the secret government branch of fantasy creatures, and you’re now hired as their tutor about the human world.
33. “You can even change voices after you morph into the person themselves?!” “You sound way too excited about that.”
34. He was alone in the middle of the night in a church before the wooden door creaked open to a family dressed in black with shining skin from the skylight.
35. The Starbucks employee blinked as the door opened on its own and a woman appeared out of thin air. She nodded after she took the caramel cappuccino out from his hand.
36. “You’re weird.” “Uh no. I’m f*cking beautiful, have you seen my wings that I groom every single day?”
37. He came from the future while she came from the past. They both arrive at the same timeline to accomplish the same thing.
38. He was now responsible for her, the new vampire to the clan. She whom he loved and killed.
39. You blew out the small flame on your finger, “That’s what I call a gun.”
40. She chased after him with the wallet he dropped, until they faced each other into the alley. One as a girl and one as a cat.

42. “I brush my fur everyday to keep it smooth, I have to look awesome during the whole moon when I howl at the cliff.”
43. She handed you a potion bottle and twirled her wand, “It could be red wine or it could be the potion of your dreams. The choice is yours, choose wisely.”
44. He touched this tip of his demon horns, “And tell me why the hell should I agree to this unfair bargain?”
45. Your two best friends that you’ve known for ages just morphed into a fairy and an elf. And they just asked you to save their kingdom.
46. He lived on the streets for as long as he remembered before a man dressed in black with blue cat eyes appeared before him and tsked, “What happened to you in the five centuries that I was gone?”
47. Your sister that has been missing for five years now stand next to your bedside with wild green eyes. Every photo that you had of of her showed that she had blue eyes.
48. “What do you mean plastic?” The fairy gasped in horror. “My dress is made of freshest petals from the brightest red rose in the Midnight Garden of my kingdom! Absolutely preposterous!”
49. You opened the changing room to the new male employee, half naked with blood dripping down his mouth and a slumped figure on the floor. “Before you say anything, I can explain. But I need this job, okay?”
50. “This movie kinda sucked.” She raised an eyebrow and bared her fangs. “My fellow vampires in there need a lesson on how to eat neatly, they’re not going to live past a thousand years without getting discovered that way.”
51. You wake up to find a fairy sitting on your desk, looking at the childhood picture book on the desk that you brought out from the attic. And she looks exactly like the fairy on the cover.
52. “Who? The gnomes? I’ve been to their houses once, I can tell you that they have some awesome architectures that you’re never ever going to see, you can give up on the idea, I see it in your eyes.”
53. Your newest roommate just arrived with a cloak on and trunks that looked centuries old. He just announced even though that he’s a warlock, he’s still willing to wash the dishes if someone cooks.
54. She drew a rune in the air and threw her cat in before frowning at him, “You’re drawing your own. A rune only takes two.”
55. Ever since you discovered the book of runes in your attic and drew a couple yourself, there has been five anonymous magical school invitations in your mailbox.

60. You can see how many years other people have left in their life, while you can’t see anything in the mirror, a kid had just pointed at the top of your head and said, “Three.”
61. Five sirens have gained the ability to walk on land. It’s time to sing on the national TV.
62. He’s been ocean diving for years, but when he dived into a cave in an unknown area. He saw something he wasn’t supposed to see.
63. You’ve been lost in the forest for almost a week, but you’ve actually been doing well since you’ve been finding random supplies by you every time you wake up.
64. You watched your friend jump in the rune he drew in your room, only for him to appear back in your room after a decade. “You will never believe what I’ve just been through.”
